Proteus Review

In Proteus the player explores an island. The island is uniquely generated each time the player plays the game. The player is able to interact with things on the island, including its flora and fauna, by walking near these things. During the player’s playthrough, the island can change.

BioShock Review

BioShock is a first person shooter in which the player controls Jack, who must explore an underwater city full of enemies after his plane crashes in the middle of the ocean. The player progresses through the city to discover why it is full of people trying to kill Jack and each other, and eventually the player fights a final boss.

Actual Sunlight Review

In Actual Sunlight, the player controls Evan Winter, a man who lives in Toronto. The player moves through the world by controlling Evan with the arrow keys. The player can interact with objects in order to trigger various screens with text, and the player can also engage in conversation with other characters.

Syndicate Review

Syndicate is a first person shooter set in the future where the player plays as an agent of one of the eponymous syndicates. The agent’s name is Miles Kilo, a combination of two words that describe distances. Kilo is tasked with shooting a number of employees of the other syndicates, including boss enemies, one whom can jump high. Kilo has a microchip implanted in his brain that allows him to manipulate the environment and enemies. The game also has cooperative multiplayer.

Syndicate Review

In Syndicate the player takes control of an eponymous syndicate and battles against rival syndicates in an effort to gain territory and ultimately profit. The player must manage the strategic side by choosing which missions to go on and which technology to upgrade while also managing the tactical combat in the missions they send their agents on.

Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC Review

Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC is downloadable content for the third game in the Mass Effect series. The DLC allows the player to investigate the Leviathan, an alien that can potentially be used int he fight against the Reapers, who are killing everybody in the universe during the events of the game.

Gone Home Review

In Gone Home, the player controls Katie Greenbriar, who has returned from a trip in Europe to her family’s new home only to find her family missing. The player enters the family’s house and looks for clues to explain where everyone is. Interacting with a papier-mâché duck is necessary in order to gain entrance to the house.

Mass Effect 3 Review

Mass Effect 3 is the third game in the Mass Effect series. It is a science fiction third person shooter game. The player can enable or disable RPG elements in the menu. The game concludes the story of Commander Shepard, the player’s character, who fights against an invasion of Reapers, robotic invaders that wish to destroy all intelligent life in the galaxy by shooting them with lasers or turning them into robotic zombies or soup.

Natural Selection 2 Review

Natural Selection 2 is a multiplayer game that is a mixed first person shooter and strategy game. Aliens and marines fight over various locations in a first person shooter, while a commander on each team researches upgrades, builds buildings, and issues orders. Aliens can chuckle at their enemies while marines can dispense a variety of taunts, including one that goes “now there’s something you don’t see every day… thank God.”
