Threes is a puzzle game where the player attempts to combine tiles on a four by four grid by sliding tiles with the same number in to each other. As the player swipes up, down, left, or right, all tiles that can move in that direction move in that direction. Each time the player swipes, a tile comes on to the side of the grid opposite the direction of movement. The game ends when the grid is filled.

Deus Ex is a first person shooter with role playing elements in which the player takes control of JC Denton, a nano-machine augmented agent working for the anti-terrorist agency UNATCO. JC is tasked with various missions which take place in various levels that allow the player to roam around, talk to people, and approach the objectives in a variety of ways with a variety of tools. The player can also shoot a basketball.

X-COM: UFO Defense is a strategy game in which the player takes control of the eponymous X-COM organization in an effort to defend Earth from an alien invasion. The player manages the organization in real time by setting up bases, sending out planes to shoot down the eponymous UFOs, and conducting research and manufacturing. The player also controls X-COM’s soldiers in turn based battles at the sites of crashed and landed UFOs.

Star Wars: Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight is a first and third person shooter in which the player takes on the role of Kyle Katarn, a mercenary whose goal consists of, at various points: to learn the truth about his father, to track down a robot, to track down that robot’s arm, to track down the robot again, and to escape a dangerous location, among other goals. The player traverses a series of different environments and engages in combat with a variety of enemies. The player may also cause Kyle to fall to the dark side of the Force if desired.

Spelunky Review
