Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC is downloadable content for the third game in the Mass Effect series. The DLC allows the player to investigate the Leviathan, an alien that can potentially be used int he fight against the Reapers, who are killing everybody in the universe during the events of the game.
The Leviathan DLC adds two new weapons, five new weapon modifications, and one screaming severed head to Mass Effect 3. The two new weapons are also available to players who preordered the game, except Australian players who did not preorder from EB Games or Origin. The DLC adds quests the player can undertake in order to eventually discover the eponymous Leviathan.
Spheres that drive people crazy play a role in the story in the Leviathan DLC. A large robot that can walk underwater also factors in. At one point the player learns the secret behind what the Reapers are, why they are doing what they are doing, how they began, and why they look like large robotic space crustaceans. The player’s character also appears to learn this information although at a later point in the game the player’s character can express ignorance as to these various details.
The graphics in Leviathan DLC are similar to the graphics in Mass Effect 3 although they feature more water. At one point the player is able to get close to a probe that they fire from the SSV Normandy, which is the first and only time in the Mass Effect series that the player can see what the probes look like in detail. Some of the sounds in Leviathan DLC are whispering. Others are insane people talking.
The player visits a location in Leviathan DLC where a great number of Harvesters are flying around in the air. The Harvest is a large enemy type which can do a great deal of damage to the player. In the mission in Leviathan DLC, the great number of Harvesters largely leave the player alone, allowing the player to complete the mission rather than be killed instantly. Instead, the Harvesters fly in circles in the sky and emit noises. Sometimes they do fire at the player. Partway through Leviathan DLC, a muscular man takes an interest in the screaming severed head. Discussing this with the muscular man allows the player to keep the severed head on their ship.
